Engineering Mastery: The Tensile Membrane Canopy
Opened in September 2017, the Cívitas Metropolitano succeeded the beloved Vicente Calderón. Designed by Cruz y Ortiz Arquitectos in collaboration with Schlaich Bergermann Partner, the stadium features a double-ring spoke wheel roof covered in PTFE fiberglass, creating an acoustic trap that projects Diego Simeone’s trademark high-intensity crowd noise right onto the pitch.
